Greeley, CO – The Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (GPO) continues its 109th concert season, Frontiers: Discovering Land, Sea, Sky, Space, and Beyond with its annual Poinsettia Pops concert at 7:30 pm on Saturday, December 7th at the Union Colony Civic Center (UCCC), 701 10th Ave. The popular holiday program showcases local tenor Charles Moore, the Greeley Children’s Chorale, and the Greeley Chorale in the poinsettia adorned Monfort Concert Hall. Sponsored by UCHealth, the GPO is the region’s premier professional orchestra committed to presenting the highest-quality live symphonic performances to Northern Colorado.
Poinsettia Pops is a holiday tradition in Northern Colorado, complete with free entry into the nationally recognized Festival of Trees. Holiday favorites Sleigh Ride, selections from The Nutcracker, and exceptional performances by vocalists and choirs alike. This holiday pops concert is a must-see for families and holiday-lovers of all ages.

About Soloist Charles Moore
Declared a “skyscraping tenor” in a review by Arkansan music critic Eric Harrison, Dr. Charles Moore hails from Kingston, Jamaica, and had his early music beginnings in the Boys Choir of the St. Richard’s Catholic School. Recent Theater appearances include The Prince in Rusalka, Ferrando in School of Lovers (understudy), Vuval in William Grant Still’s Troubled Island; Pat in David T. Little’s Dog Days (an American Prize winning production); Pirelli in Sweeney Todd; Bénédict in Beatrice et Bénédict; Ruggero in La Rondine; Camille in The Merry Widow; Mack “The Knife” in Die Dreigroschenoper and Fenton in The Merry Wives of Windsor. Concert performances also include Don Ottavio from Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, excerpts from Handel’s Messiah with the Jefferson Chamber Orchestra, Elijah with the Diocesan Festival Choir and Orchestra in Jamaica, and Saint-Saëns’s Oratorio de Noël with the Gonzales Chamber Orchestra.
About the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra
Founded in 1911, the GPO is the oldest continually operated professional orchestra west of the Mississippi River. The organization is dedicated to providing the highest degree of music and cultural enrichment in Northern Colorado. Education initiatives continue to engage and inspire youth, promoting an interest in classical music. All musicians have auditioned and been contracted by the GPO. Over 70% of the GPO’s orchestra members hold a Master’s Degree or higher, and many have made successful careers performing for the GPO and other professional orchestras throughout the Front Range and beyond.
Concerts feature repertoire spanning hundreds of years, showcasing composers from across the globe. The GPO is invested in the future of classical music and its relevance in its community, presenting annual Fifth Grade concerts, outreach to schools, side-by-side coaching sessions, and a Junior Ambassador program.
