Greeley Holiday Classic “Poinsettia Pops" Returns on December 7th
The Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (GPO) brings back the annual holiday concert, "Poinsettia Pops," on December 7th at the Union Colony Civic Center. A cherished regional tradition, the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, Greeley Chorale, and Greeley Children's Chorale unite on the poinsettia-adorned Monfort Concert Hall stage for a festive celebration.
DoubleTree by Hilton Greeley at Lincoln Park is offering a "Stay and Play" package for Poinsettia Pops. Ticket holders are eligible for a discounted overnight stay.
The concert opens with the semi-annual Magic Baton Melody Contest presented by Composer-in-Residence Dylan Fixmer in collaboration with Greeley-Evans School District 6. This competition showcases a middle school student's composition, now orchestrated for the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. This winter’s winning composer is Alejandra Becerra Flores from Prairie Heights Middle School with her piece “Pitch Dark Nights!”
"Poinsettia Pops" features a range of carols and beloved seasonal songs, like “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Sleigh Ride,” and the Elf movie theme. Soprano Kacie Kenton joins the GPO for the first time to sing “The First Nowell.” This concert will capture the spirit of the holidays, and you won’t want to be Home Alone for this one!
The Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra encourages attendees to come early and enjoy pre-concert festivities, including the Festival of Trees display and a meet-and-greet with Santa! The lobby opens at 6:00 pm and the concert will begin at 7:00 pm. After the concert, visit 477 Distilling for some festive cocktails and drinks! A percentage of their December Drink of the Month proceeds will be donated to the GPO.
