Enjoy music from Ramon Ayala, José José, Celia Cruz and Rocio Durcal with your Greeley Philharmonic this Día de Los Muertos. On November 1st, this concert explores themes of life and death. To start, “La Llorona” explores mystifying folklore themes and death. Then, get in your feels with “El Triste" by José José. The second half of the concert honors life with upbeat music. The norteño, “Un Rinconcito en el Cielo” by Ramon Ayala, and the bolero, “Amor Eterno” by Rocío Durcal, express love. To end the night, dance to cumbia and salsa with “Colombia Tierra Querida” by Lucho Bermudez and “La Vida es un Carnaval” by Celia Cruz.
It is a high honor for the Greeley Philharmonic Brass Ensemble, conducted by Frank Cook, to perform in celebration and gratitude for those who have answered the call to serve in our United States Armed Forces. Join us as we acknowledge their sacrifices and contributions through spirit-lifting renditions of American tunes.
At Greeley’s favorite holiday tradition, your Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, Greeley Chorale, and Greeley Children's Chorale again take the stage in the poinsettia-adorned Monfort Concert Hall! Start the evening with the Magic Baton Melody Contest celebrating our winning Greeley-Evans School District 6 middle school student composer. Then, get in the holiday spirit with familiar tunes including “Deck the Halls,” “Silent Night,” “Jingle Bells,” and “Sleigh Ride.” This concert also features selections from Respighi’s La Boutique Fantastique Suite, a ballet about a magical toyshop. Sure to have you singing all the way home, the concert “wraps” up with the orchestra and choir performing “Angels We Have Heard on High,” arranged by Mack Wilberg. Join us for the final night of the Festival of Trees!
Under the direction of Frank Cook, Northern Colorado’s biggest, baddest, and boldest brass section takes center stage for this spectacular evening of holiday hymns and carols! Resounding trumpets and triumphant horns declare the magic and majesty of the holiday season. The breathtaking artistry of the musicians resonate in intimate settings across Northern Colorado. Don’t wait, reserve your tickets now as these performances sell out quickly!
Celebrate nearly 250 years of American music with your Greeley Philharmonic. The concert includes the patriotic “Liberty Fanfare” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.” Also featured is Copland’s ballet, Appalachian Spring, inspired by the American frontier. Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes and “A New World A’Comin” by Duke Ellington fuse jazz and orchestral traditions. The second half opens with a world premiere of a piece by Julie Giroux. Join us on January 31st to hear your American favorites or to discover something new!
As an Air Force veteran, Oscar winner, and honorary knight, John Williams is much more than a run-of-the-mill composer. With 124 film scores and a 50-year partnership with Steve Spielberg, Williams is one of Hollywood’s most iconic figures. Be transported to galaxies far, far away with music from blockbuster movies such as Indiana Jones, Jaws, and Star Wars with your Greeley Philharmonic!
In collaboration with the University of Northern Colorado choirs, your Greeley Philharmonic brings you a night of masterful works. Be immersed in a daring prison escape with Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture. Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition brings Viktor Hartmann’s artwork to life. In the second half, the choir and orchestra combine with Vaughan Williams’ “Serenade to Music,” which pays homage to Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice. To end your Greeley Philharmonic’s 114th season, the combined ensemble performs Bernstein’s Hebrew Chichester Psalms. You don’t want to miss the season finale!
