Letter from Board President Glenda Haines
New Year Greetings from the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra!
The year 2023 is upon us and there is excitement at the GPO! Although we will experience changes with our CEO Nick Kenny leaving at the end of January to pursue a new career, we are prepared not to miss a beat! Nick has served us with energy, creativity, and dedication and we wish him nothing but the best. We are in a time of positive momentum at the GPO, and we are going to embrace this change with the opportunity to assess, improve and continue producing the exciting season of concerts we have planned for you. I am so excited for the second half of our season. It will be spectacular!
On the business front, we have a great plan in place with a strong team behind it. Ben Barnhart, who is a Board member and who has been leading our Development Team will be working as part-time Interim Executive Director beginning January 1st. Ben’s board position will be suspended during this assignment and will resume once we bring in a new Executive Director (ED). Ben is already such a strong part of our team and his leadership skills and knowledge of the organization are a perfect fit for our interim needs. We are truly grateful for Ben’s willingness to rearrange his own business and family priorities for a few months to ensure we keep our momentum and allow us the proper time to find our new ED.
The most important part of this New Year’s letter is about what will be happening under the baton of Maestro Lowell Graham. January’s Gershwin and Ravel, the Burroughs in March, the spectacular production of Carmina Burana in April, and Sounds of the Cinema in May will all be exciting and celebratory experiences. Our orchestra has never sounded better and I am continually amazed at the talent of the musicians on our stage performing the brilliant programming Dr. Graham has planned for us. These will be “not to be missed” entertainment experiences, and I hope you make them a top priority on your 2023 calendar!
Allow me to close this letter with an abundance of gratitude for your attendance, sponsorships, business relationships and particularly generous donations to the GPO this year. It is not a cliché to say, “We couldn’t do it without you!”
Wishing you all the most happy, abundant, and musical 2023!
