Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra Presents: Portraits of the West: Picturing Utopia

The Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (GPO) invites you to embark on a symphonic journey into the rich history of Weld County. Join us for an unforgettable evening as we proudly present the world premiere of Composer-in-Residence Dylan Fixmer's Seven Symphonic Portraits: A Weld County Reflection.

Date: October 14th, 2023

Time: 7:00 PM

Venue: Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631

Prompted by the question “What brings us here?” Fixmer wrote Seven Symphonic Portraits: A Weld County Reflection to pay homage to the diverse stories, experiences, and aspirations of the people who have called Weld County home. This composition consists of seven distinct movements, each uniquely capturing the essence of past, present, and future generations.

Alongside Fixmer’s composition, we are excited to present Alan Hovhaness' Mysterious Mountain, which transports listeners to serene landscapes, and the triumphant "Jubilee" from George W. Chadwick's Symphonic Sketches, sure to leave you inspired.

Elevating the concert experience, your ticket grants you premium access to a curated display of Weld County artifacts, presented by Greeley Museums in the lobby of the Union Colony Civic Center.

This concert promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and storytelling. Don't miss the opportunity to witness the world premiere of Seven Symphonic Portraits: A Weld County Reflection and immerse yourself in the history and culture of Weld County. This concert is sponsored by the Weld Community Foundation.
