Family-Friendly Sounds of Cinema Concert Returns March 8th

Greeley, CO – An annual favorite of the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra’s Pops series, “Sounds of Cinema” brings music from the silver screen to the Union Colony Civic Center stage on Saturday, March 8th.

Songs from Jurassic Park, Phantom of the Opera, and A Little Night Music, and more, will have you tapping your toes and humming along. In a format unique to Northern Colorado, this narrated concert will share trivia about the composers, films, and specific scenes from which the songs are featured. Enjoy a mix of familiar tunes that tell stories through sound.

When and Where:

Saturday, March 8th, 2025, at 7 PM
Union Colony Civic Center 701 10th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631

Consider dressing up for the occasion to add an extra touch of excitement to the night. Capture the moment with a family photo upon your arrival, and let the music inspire your imagination. One attendee from the 2024 Sounds of Cinema event shared, “We were absorbed into an experience of symphonic poetry, a grand escape from the mundane!”

One hour before the concert, guest conductor Grant Cooper will present a free pre-concert talk for ticket holders. Cooper adds the GPO to a list of professional orchestras he has conducted, including the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the New Zealand Symphony, and the Kennedy Center Orchestra.

The concert opens with the third annual high school level Magic Baton Melody Contest winning composition, as orchestrated by the GPO Composer-in-Residence Dylan Fixmer. This year’s winning student is Elliott Leffler with their melody “Elegance of Imperfection.”

Tickets for Sounds of Cinema are available through the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra’s website [greeleyphil.org/tickets] or at the Union Colony Civic Center box office.
