Melanie Fisher joined the Greeley Philharmonic as second bassoonist in
2000 and has been co-principal bassoonist of the Cheyenne Symphony since
2002.
She was previously a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago
where she played under many conductors including Daniel Barenboim and
Pierre Boulez. Melanie has performed with the Colorado Symphony, Utah
Symphony, Utah Opera, Ballet West, Chicago Opera Theatre, Fort Collins
Symphony, and Boulder Philharmonic, and has recorded with L.A. East for
the movie “Crossfire Trail,” starring Tom Selleck and Mark Harmon.
Her primary teachers were John Miller, Homer Pence, Keith Sweger, and Robert
Moore, and she has also participated in the Aspen Music Festival,
Colorado Music Festival, Strings Music Festival, and Sarasota Music
Festival.
During the day, Melanie works as a pharmacy technician, and
she enjoys spending her free time hiking, skiing, and playing pickleball
with her husband and two sons.
